Meet Miranda Arnt, a Junior at York College of Pennsylvania, who has been volunteering with our students at McKinley K-8. Miranda is majoring in Recreation and Leisure Administration with a Therapeutic Recreation Emphasis. Our site coordinator, Alex Kadyszewski asked her reason for volunteering:

I honestly just wanted to volunteer simply to help out the children who attend McKinley. Most people just want to volunteer because it looks good on resumes, but that’s not even a reason for me volunteering. I love working with kids and I enjoy helping kids any way that I can. I’ve seen the tremendous improvements that each student is making since I’ve started volunteering, and that makes me feel like I am actually making a difference in their lives. I know the day that I leave it will be hard because I’ve gotten to know so many of the students in Ms. W’s class from helping with reading and writing, to playing on the playground during schedule changes, and many other things. I hope to possibly come back in the fall and help out again if my schedule at York allows for it.”

We are so proud to have young individuals wanting to make a difference in their community. Thank you, Miranda, for sharing your story and for sharing your time with the students at McKinley K-8.
